A World Down-Knitting Record Was Set in Orenburg!
699 people simultaneously knitted goat-down items for five minutes – a record for the largest mass down knitting was registered in Orenburg.
A record for the largest mass down knitting has been set in Orenburg. The participants were aged from 6 to 80; their sex, experience and skills all differed, but they were united by a love of knitting. Without prior agreement, everyone came wearing down shawls, and those who arrived without needles and yarn were given everything they needed right at the entrance. Knitting enthusiasts came to the regional centre from all over the Orenburg region.
699 knitters in five minutes
Vadim Goryunov, chief arbiter of the Russian Committee for the Registration of World Records, recorded the record, the data on which will be sent to the Guinness World Records for further registration. The essence of the record: 699 people simultaneously knitted items from the legendary goat down for five minutes!
After the event, all participants were presented with commemorative diplomas and souvenirs.
Organisers
The bright and unusual celebration was prepared by the Ministry of Culture and External Relations of the Orenburg Region, the Orenburg Regional Museum of Fine Arts, the Orenburg regional public organisation "Women's Council" and the Department of Youth Policy of the Orenburg Region.
