"The Shawl of Friendship"
On 11 October 2014, the "Shawl of Friendship" flash mob took place in Orenburg: young people laid out a pattern of Orenburg down shawls on the main street.
On 11 October 2014, an unusual flash mob took place in Orenburg. Young people gathered on the city's central street to depict a "living" symbol of the Orenburg region and the friendship of peoples – the Orenburg down shawl.

Passers-by could watch the young people arrange the pattern of a large "Shawl of Friendship" from real Orenburg down shawls. The event was held as part of the "Orenburg Down Shawl Days".

The "Shawl of Friendship" flash mob is one of the youth events that help the new generation touch the traditions, warmth and care embodied in the Orenburg down shawl. It is a reminder that it is the young who will have to revive down-knitting traditions, treating the history and heritage of the region with care.
