Like handbags and shoes, a stylish woman can never have too many gloves. This is an important accessory that not only protects delicate hands from the cold but also emphasises their attractiveness, refinement and their owner's excellent sense of style. Well-chosen gloves can complement any outfit and transform their owner. If you prefer harmonious combinations and strive to surround yourself with warmth and comfort, pay attention to soft gloves knitted from natural goat down. Their exclusivity is guaranteed by the skilful handwork of Orenburg craftswomen!

A weightless wonder in elegant hands

down glovesA lady in down gloves is the epitome of style and femininity. A fluffy and airy accessory adds charm and tenderness to a look. In spring, openwork gloves are especially good, with the velvety skin of a woman's hands showing through the patterns. In winter it is better to choose more densely knitted, double gloves with pure angora added. In autumn, all the country's fashionistas acquired long knitted gloves, which look chic with a cropped coat or a loose poncho.

Traditionally, long openwork gloves are part of the outfit of young brides whose weddings are planned for the cold season. Snow-white, enveloping openwork emphasises the touching moment and the perfection of the bride's look.

The charm of details

You should not think that when buying gloves from Orenburg down knitters, whose many years of experience and skill are beyond doubt, you are buying something "rustic" or unfashionable. The Orenburg down-knitting craft does not stand still. One look at the range of hand-knitted items is enough to dispel this common misconception. The craftswomen's unquenchable striving for beauty turns down gloves into an amazing work of art.

Modern glove models are truly exclusive and follow many fashion trends. Today down accessories are decorated with hand embroidery, sparkling beads, pearl beads, delicate satin and lace ribbons, knitted flowers and so on. Besides traditional five-finger gloves, they also knit openwork mitts, convertible gloves with a fold-back top and incredibly fluffy mittens. And all this in different colours, techniques and sizes. By the way, speaking of sizes…

How to choose your glove size

how to determine your glove sizeTo determine the size of knitted gloves once and for all, measure your own hand. For this you will need a tape measure, with which you measure the circumference of your right wrist at its narrowest point. The resulting number will be in the range of 17 to 30 cm (for a woman's hand). This figure determines your size in the new system.

Measuring in the old system

The old system involves measuring the circumference of the whole palm at its widest part. The result is multiplied by 10 and divided by 27. This gives size 6.5, 7, 7.5 and so on.

If you are choosing lined winter gloves, it is better to take them slightly larger. When buying, you should also take into account the properties of the material. Does it stretch well, will it shrink after washing… It is also important to decide on the length of the gloves. This especially applies to long, close-fitting models, which must sit perfectly on a woman's hands – without constricting them, but without slipping down either. Well-chosen gloves should fit the hand snugly and not restrict its owner's movements.

What to wear long gloves with

Long gloves are one of the most fashionable and extravagant details of a woman's wardrobe. They are luxurious and elegant, beautiful and comfortable, and can be combined with both outerwear and evening wear. However, it is important to choose the right texture and colour of long gloves and to think through your look in detail.

openwork glovesLong gloves come in various modifications – they can barely reach the elbows, fit the hand tightly almost along its entire length, or have a complex improved shape (for example, mitts or convertible gloves). The first option is best combined with outerwear. The sleeves of the jacket or coat should be at least elbow-length or have a loose trapeze shape. Long knitted gloves are so versatile that they can make a good set even with a sports jacket or a down jacket. But they look most luxurious with furs. A short fur coat or fur vest will look even more striking if paired with warm elbow-length gloves.

Gloves that stay on a woman's hand by fitting tightly are usually longer than elbow length. Such a model requires a suitable outfit – an evening, wedding or cocktail dress. They are made from soft "stretch" fabrics – guipure, satin, velvet, lace.

The most fashionable option today is mitts; stylists recommend wearing them with warm dresses, knitwear and vests. They go perfectly with outerwear, especially when chosen to match the hat. Down mitts with a fold-over cap will protect your fingers from the cold if it gets colder, instantly turning the gloves into warm mittens.

Down gloves: care recommendations

Like all items knitted from natural goat down, openwork gloves require delicate care. Careful washing in water no hotter than 35 degrees, using special products for wool or shampoo, gentle squeezing (without twisting or stretching) and proper drying. To dry down gloves after washing, do not put them on a hot radiator, hang them on a clothesline, let alone fasten them with clothes pegs. Simply put the damp gloves on a dry towel, straighten them along their full length and change the wet towel under them from time to time.
