People compete in strength and endurance, in running speed and jump length, in games and professional skill. Things cannot compete on their own. But we can certainly compare them. We suggest holding a "contest" between two warm items: a woollen scarf and a down stole.

We are not afraid of the cold

buy a white scarfThe stole and the scarf are items used in the cold season. As soon as autumn arrives, people cover their necks with something warm. At first the head remains uncovered. And only after the "white flies" (snowflakes) appear is the very top of the human body also covered.

People learned to cover their necks with textile materials long ago, at least two thousand years ago. Since then, the raw materials have changed, and tools, means of production and methods of making items have improved. Today down and woollen neck accessories are knitted on needles and with special knitting machines, from thick and thin yarn twisted on spindles or special mechanisms.

What do a stole and a scarf have in common?

Both items can be knitted by hand – on needles or with a crochet hook. On sale you can find items made industrially with "smart" technical equipment.

Both items require careful handling; in particular, only warm water is suitable for washing them. Machine washing is not suitable for neck accessories.

Scarves and stoles are strong. Try tearing one of them. You won't manage! You can stretch them but not tear them. When the tension is released, the items return to their original size. The elasticity of stoles and scarves allows you to experiment: tie beautiful knots, throw the ends over your shoulders, wrap them tightly or loosely around your neck.

How does a scarf differ from a stole?

down stoleA woollen scarf is usually worn on the neck, whereas a stole is good on the neck, the shoulders and the head. Of course, you can wrap a scarf around your head and throw it over your shoulders. But it is not meant for that and will only spoil a young woman's look.

Wool scarves lose their original look much sooner than their openwork fluffy "brothers". The service life of down items is amazing. They do not lose their qualities even after ten years. And the down cover only increases over time!

Even the most beautiful woollen scarf will not go with an evening outfit. But a lace stole "feels great" on bare shoulders.

Washing wool requires special detergents. Down is washed with what you wash your hair with.

Down items surpass woollen ones in:

- softness,

- delicacy,

- warmth,

- beauty of patterns,

- durability,

- weight,

- versatility,

- appearance (due to the fibres protruding from the fabric).

The stole is preferable

openwork stoleIf you plan to buy a neck item, think about what it should be like. A down stole can perform several functions. If its owner wishes, it will protect the neck, head and shoulders from the cold and warm the back and chest. The stole is not limited to its warming effect alone. It will adorn a young woman, give her lightness and tenderness and help create a unique look.

A delicate stole goes equally well with leather jackets and raincoats, long short-haired fur coats and short fur coats, wool coats and modern jackets.

A wool scarf will not go with an expensive coat, for example a mink one. Its status is somewhat lower than that of a down accessory, so it is better suited to lovers of a sporty style.

And to be honest…

Frankly speaking, every young woman should have several scarves, "for every occasion", as they say. It would be silly to go skiing with a down stole around your neck. But without one, a wardrobe will be incomplete. Think how much this soft, weightless rectangle can give. Every woman who wants to be known for her own style should have a stole, and perhaps more than one.
