Orenburg Down Shawl Days. A Press Conference at the Museum of Fine Arts
The Orenburg Down Shawl Days 2018 opened with a press conference at the Orenburg Museum of Fine Arts: an icon by Anna Sovetova and an award for a young knitter.
Yesterday the Orenburg Regional Museum of Fine Arts hosted a large press conference opening the "Orenburg Down Shawl Days" – a week of festive events devoted to the down-knitting craft of the Orenburg region.
Who spoke and what was shown
Guests' questions were answered by Evgenia Shevchenko, Minister of Culture and External Relations of the Orenburg Region, Yuri Komlev, director of the Museum of Fine Arts, and Irina Bushukhina, head of the Orenburg Down Shawl gallery.
The press conference programme included the unique icon "The Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos", created by designer Anna Sovetova, and an award for Rozalina Bashirova, a 19-year-old knitter from the village of Zheltoye and winner of the All-Russian "Young Talents" contest. Guests were also shown the animated film "The Tale of the Orenburg Goat and the Down Shawl", created by animators from our city.
The Minister of Culture named popularising the down-knitting craft as one of the main goals of the celebration.
