Sky News Visited the Shalnoy Orenburg Artel
The British channel Sky News filmed a story about the down-knitting craft at the Shalnoy Orenburg artel: down goats, knitters and production.
The Orenburg down shawl continues its "triumphal march" across Europe. Very recently we were visited by guests from Italy who created original collections based on goat-down items – they will be shown in the spring at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week 2019.

This time the unique craft of our region interested the well-known British 24-hour news channel Sky News, which decided to film a story about the down-knitting craft of the Orenburg region. This week the channel's journalists came to our artel, and we gave them a big tour so that the team could get a full picture of how the world-famous down items from Orenburg are created.
Over the day, the Sky News staff saw with their own eyes the herd of unique down goats of the Orenburg breed, talked with down shawl knitters and their young successors – the continuity of generations was one of the important themes the channel wanted to cover in the story – and also got to know the production section of the Shalnoy Orenburg artel.
When to watch
The story about the Orenburg down shawl will be shown on Sky News on the eve of Christmas, in the second half of December (the 20s).
