"Trace of the Soul". Leilya Gubaidullina's Exhibition at the Orenburg Museum of Fine Arts
The Orenburg Down Shawl gallery opened knitter Leilya Gubaidullina's exhibition "Trace of the Soul" – panel shawls with narrative compositions.
On 13 February, Orenburg knitter Leilya Gubaidullina's exhibition "Trace of the Soul" opened at the Orenburg Museum of Fine Arts, in the Orenburg Down Shawl gallery.
About the craftswoman
Leilya Vakhitovna is a hereditary knitter and a recognised craftswoman of the Orenburg Region. Her shawls have taken part in Orenburg, all-Russian and even international exhibitions and conferences, and she herself has received many awards.
Narrative shawls
"Trace of the Soul" is a distinctive and interesting exhibition. Many of the items are essentially panels, each with its own composition and its own "story". Remarkably, ornaments untypical for the Orenburg down shawl are made up of patterns well known to masters and connoisseurs of the craft. The works clearly show Leilya Vakhitovna's talent and imagination: the compositions include illustrations to Pushkin's fairy tales, ancient Greek myths and holiday dates.
Don't miss it
On behalf of the Shalnoy Orenburg down artel, we advise everyone interested in the crafts and folk art of the Orenburg region to visit Leilya Vakhitovna's exhibition. It will run until 17 March 2019.
As always, a small photo report accompanies the news. But we still advise residents of Orenburg and the region to come and see this splendour in person.
