Exhibition of Orenburg Down Shawls in Chisinau
About 100 Orenburg down items, including some from Shalnoy Orenburg, were shown at an exhibition at the Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Chisinau.
About 100 down items from Orenburg were presented at a large exhibition at the Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Chisinau (Moldova), organised by the Orenburg Museum of Fine Arts. Warm shawls, openwork gossamer shawls and stoles made up a varied and beautiful display of works by masters of the famous craft.
The exhibits included down items from the Shalnoy Orenburg artel – the public rated them very highly. The exhibition was covered by local and federal media, including the news channel Mir24.
The exhibition is dedicated to the 220th anniversary of the birth of A. S. Pushkin. Its opening was preceded by a cultural and educational event, "The Captain's Daughter", for Chisinau schoolchildren: the children were introduced to the variety of Orenburg down items by Natalia Letunova, a research fellow of the Orenburg Museum of Fine Arts. Both the children's event and the exhibition itself took place in the Centre's Pushkin Hall.
