The Tale of Dashka the Goat
As promised, here is the first fairy tale about the Orenburg down shawl. We present the text unchanged.
Once upon a time there lived a grandmother and grandfather in a small village far from the city. They lived in great harmony, heart to heart.
One day they were at the market and saw a woman who wanted to sell a little goat kid. The grandmother was delighted: “My goodness, how pretty it is, let's buy it! We'll raise it and look after it. When it grows up, we'll be able to comb out the down. I'll spin yarn, and you'll ply the threads. From the finished yarn we'll knit warm socks, mittens, kerchiefs, gossamer shawls and shawls.” The grandfather agreed, and they bought the kid. They brought it home, argued for a long time about what to call it, and named it Dashka.
Two or three years passed, and it was time to comb out the down. The grandfather tried to comb the goat alone, but it didn't work. He called the grandmother: she held it gently while the grandfather combed. They worked together well, and everything worked out.
They prepared the threads, and the grandmother began to knit. In just three weeks she knitted three items. She and the grandfather went to the market and sold all their work. Things went well for them. Together they prepared the threads, the grandmother knitted, and the grandfather sold. They built their own small business, became rich and lived happily ever after.
The end.
