The Goat Dereza and the Kind Woman

And here is a new fairy tale about the Orenburg down shawl and more, this time about kindness and mutual help. Enjoy!

Updated 1 min read Shalnoy Orenburg editorial team

“I vaguely remember how much time has passed since I won back my seven kids from the grey wolf,” the old goat Dereza told her grandchildren. “It's good that your mother, White Hoof, managed to hide from him and show where the wolf had carried off the other kids.

So, I won back my little kids, and we began to hide in the forests and mountains.

Until we came to a little village, where we met a very kind woman. She took us in, fed us, warmed us and combed us.

And since then we have lived with her; she looks after us, and we repay her kindness by giving her precious down, soft and warm, from which she knits warm shawls, little kerchiefs and socks for her children and grandchildren. They say she even gave them to her relatives abroad.

Now the whole world knows about us!”
