A Meeting with Shalnoy Orenburg Craftswomen at the Krupskaya Library
At the Krupskaya Library, Shalnoy Orenburg craftswomen told students about the down-knitting craft as part of the "Heritage of Our Ancestors" series.
On 14 April, the Krupskaya Orenburg Regional Universal Scientific Library held the first meeting of the large "Heritage of Our Ancestors" series as part of the Year of Cultural Heritage.
It was devoted to one of the main crafts of our region – the Orenburg down shawl. The library's staff and management organised a meeting for students of the Orenburg College of Accounting and Finance with genuine hereditary craftswomen – knitters of the Shalnoy Orenburg company. They were happy to come and told the audience everything they wanted to know about the down-knitting craft.
Our knitters Marina Vyacheslavovna and Murshida Lutfullievna spent more than an hour answering students' questions about their work, talking about the path of down knitters and, of course, showing what genuine Orenburg down shawls should be like.
We thank the staff of the Krupskaya Orenburg Regional Library for organising such an important meeting, in our view. We are glad that we could help prepare it and take part in it.
