In fact, they sell products that are not only not made in Orenburg or even Russia — they trade in low-quality Uzbek shawls that have no certificates of conformity and could potentially harm your health. At the same time, they are often cheaper than an Orenburg shawl, which attracts potential buyers. The quality also leaves much to be desired, since the down content there is minimal and, of course, they have none of the special properties of the Orenburg down shawl.
They are bought cheaply from visiting migrant workers (no more than 300 roubles apiece) and sold for 1,000–1,500 roubles to trusting buyers, or at a high price but with a huge discount to provoke the desire to buy. We would like to inform you that producing one handmade shawl takes from a week to two months, not counting the processing and preparation of the down. Therefore a genuine shawl cannot cost 1,000 roubles. At that price it is impossible to recover even its production costs.
Signs of such websites:
- as a rule, it is a one-page website with bright colours and a small range of products (indeed, why spend effort and money maintaining a website when you can easily earn a 500% markup on 5 mass-market items).
- such websites display information about legal entities that ceased to exist long ago (for some reason advertising systems do not check this and let everyone into their network). You will never be able to return either the money or the items if something does not suit you.
- as a cheap trick, they may offer another item as a gift with the main one, and still make money, since the purchase cost of an Uzbek shawl is a pittance.
