Authenticity guaranteed — folk art register item, appellation of origin
A model from the collection of Orenburg openwork gossamer shawls. A gossamer shawl is often considered a winter item, but in fact it is a shawl for all seasons.
In spring and autumn a gossamer shawl replaces a scarf: it is wrapped around the neck under a raincoat or jacket. In summer, when evenings can be cool, it is thrown over the shoulders on top of a light dress. In winter the shawl is tied over the head under a hood or worn under a fur hat.
This versatility is explained by the properties of down: it retains warmth well but does not overheat, and the openwork fabric stays light and breathable. That is why a gossamer shawl is comfortable both in a warm room and outdoors.
Care for the shawl gently: hand washing in cool water, drying spread out. Confirm the size, colour and composition of this model with the consultants of the Shalnoy Orenburg store.
Why this item is special
Intricate openwork pattern
The ornament is knitted by hand and requires great precision in every row.
About two months of work
From preparing the down to the last stitch, the item goes through a long manual process.
Hand-knitted on needles
The shawl is knitted without machines — by the craftswoman's hands.
Living individuality
Pattern details and density may vary slightly — a natural sign of handwork.
Material and details
The item is made of unique goat down and a strong base thread — cotton or viscose silk, depending on the item. The base thread helps the shawl keep its shape, stay light and last longer.

Shawl care
To make your shawl last for years

1 · Washing
Hand wash in cool water with a mild wool detergent. Do not soak the shawl for long.

2 · Wringing
Gently press out the water with your palms. Do not twist, or the shawl will lose its shape.

3 · In a towel
Wrap the shawl in a dry towel and press gently to remove excess moisture.

4 · Drying
Dry flat, away from radiators and sunlight. Straighten the pattern by hand.
